My 9 year old daughter has been taking FocalinXR in the morning and Focalin tabs in the afternoon for about 18 months now.

Wellbutrin is not a first line med for ADHD, but it is commonly used in kids with Mood Disorders. Some studies have shown that it is as effective as Ritalin in some kids, and although it is not approved it is used " off label". ALot of meds are either not approved for kids, not for kids under a certain age etc, but are used...several come

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.

I'm convinced that my daughter has ODD (oppositional defiance disorder).

Hi, my DS who will be 10 Sunday was diagnosed with a mood disorder when he was 5, ADHD when he was 7 by a child psychiatrist.

I agree with the pervious poster about asking doctor why he chose Wellbutrin as opposed to other med choices. My ds has only been diagnosed with ADHD, but I firmly believe he has ODD tendencies (as does his 21-year-old half sister who also is ADHD). DS takes Risperdal (sp?) to help stabilize his mood and help his appetite. We have had success though I am not sure how much it is REALLY helping his appetite. He hasn't lost any weight, but he hasn't gained either. And he can still go an entire day without eating.
