I have an 8 1/2 yr old DD w/ADD who is on 15mg adderall xr. I'm wondering if anyone has tips on what I can feed her to also help her symptoms. She definitely has behavior issues, especially since her dad moved 1800 miles away a year ago. She's in 3rd grade w/ a new school with an "open classrom" environment I'm not sure I like.
Any advice/tips are welcome!

hi, and welcome!

I am not sure of things you can feed her, but eliminating certain foods does help symptoms. We eliminated all artificial Colors, flavors, and all preservatives. No processed or fast foods,( you would not believe

Thanks for the welcome :) I have been considering asking her doc about switching from xr to twice a day as homework can be a nightmare b/c the med has worn off.
I will start with watching colors and preservatives. I need some good lunch/snack ideas for her for school. She doesn't have much of an appetite during the day b/c of the med but I want to make sure she's eating healthy.

We do alot of veggies, and fruits for snacks. Carrots and ranch, apples and peanut butter, etc.

We've eliminated food dyes, and high fructose corn syrup (and other artificial sweeteners). It has helped so much! It doesn't take the place of medicines, but it helps quite a bit.

The book "Healing ADHD" by Dr. Amen has good information on foods and suppliments that can help, organized by type of ADHD.
