Well, my son's third grade teacher called this afternoon. He's not concentrating, failing reading, not getting his work done. In a word... daydreaming! I wanted to give him the chance to work through it on his own this year, I guess that's not happening. He was on Adderall last year and it turned him into a monster. His Dr. recommended Straterra, but I heard that it works for kids with ADHD and not well for kids with ADD. Does anyone know more than I do? I dont want to turn my sweetheart into a monster again but I dont want to give him a drug that is not going to work either?

Each child reacts differently to meds, not just ADHD meds. You will never know how he will react to Strattera unless you try it. If it affects him in the afternoon, it's not the right med for him. There are several meds to try, and usually the first one is not the right one. Just like allergy meds, some help you, some may not but will help others. You have to find the one that is right for you. Good luck in your decision.
