Hi there! haven't been here in a while, since DS started Adderal XR 10mg in January things have been nothing short of wonderful!! We had to add a short acting in the evenings to get him through swim lessons and such but other than that it's been the answer. NOW we have had three incidents where he has bee zoned off and I have had to call his name more than 2 x's to get his attention, he just get's a blank gaze, he even says "I don't know what happened mom, it just happened again!" so he is aware it is happening. Does it sound like a big concern???

And I guess I can't say everything is perfect because we have had a new thing he's started, picking/pulling at his lip! He can be cued out of it and only seems to do it when he's anxious or nervous. I'll bring that up with the Dr too.

TIA ~ Jenell and Jacob (age 7)

Well being that he's aware something is "happening" I'd definitely mention it to the dr. My son on the other hand, i have to call his name several times to get his attention WITH Or WITHOUT meds, depending on what he's engrossed in. LOL. He doesn't seem aware though that he's not "with me" when that happens. He's too engulfed in his own thing usually when it happens. I know that the Stimulants can cause ticlike behaviors, and my son has had some in the past that were not even stimulant related. Like years ago he would lick his lower lip a lot, and then it just stopped. Just mention the things you're concerned with to the dr and see what he says. I think some behaviors that are anxiety related, or impulse related-- can occur without meds too.

Hi, I am new to this board. I have an 8yr who is ADD and takes Adderal @15mg. My son was having blank stares similar to what you described last year, but this was before being diagnosed finally with ADD. He doesn't have that problem now that he is on his meds.

I might suggest bringing it up with his doctor. Connor had to try 3 different ADD meds before finding on that worked best. Results where good with all in regards to keeping his attention span going. But side effects where awful, One of them kept him for a week straight before he finally could sleep. Another killed his appitet, which wasn't good since he is a tall skinny boy to begin with. (Only weighs 50pounds).

This might be a side effect to this med. All I can think of is check with the doc, or look up info online about Adderal and see if you can see what side effects are for this med and if other users have complained over this probelm as well.

Good Luck
