Bernard had his end-of-the-year ceremonies today. At his school they give awards along with this. Last year, he was one of those kids that didn't have his name called at all. Tough for the kid, and tough for the parent. (This year it was my K'er in that boat, but that's another story.)

But this year....what a difference a year makes! And the right teacher. And a little help from medication. And a little added maturity. Bernard got an award for Gold Star Conduct (all A's, all year), a certificate for the biggest improvement in his class on his SAT scores (he went from a 33 to a 79 composite!), and got a certificate for 'runner up' for the "Religion Award" (that's their biggie). He also got a certificate for reading 50 books (actually, he read 75, but we never turned in the last card). In the classroom, his teacher gave him a certificate for "incredible growth in all areas".

I'm thrilled - probably more thrilled than him.

Thanks for listening!!

Karen

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! That's a HUGE accomplishment. Congrats to BOTH of you. I'm sure he is proud, but as his mother, you KNOW what a big deal each of it was individually ... collectively, it's FABULOUS!
