This past week has been interesting. We took our son off of Daytrana because he was starting to take it off himself after a few hours because it was itching so bad. So his dr. put him on Concerta 18mg. So far so good other than being slightly sleepy at times but nothing to be concerned about so far. He likes taking the pill every morning and I made him a chart that he puts a star sticker on when he takes his pill...mostly so he can see that it's a good thing to take it but also so I remember to give it to him because he will not let me forget to give it to him since he wants the sticker. He's had some growing pains as well this past week so even though he's thoroughly exhausted at night he hasn't been sleeping well because his legs hurt. Makes for a grumpy boy and an even grumpier mommy.

funny you mention sleepy, Liam was never sleepy on it but quiet, in fact in 7 1/2 years dont think Liam ever told me he was sleepy. My 2 year old will say I am tired or want to go to bed NEVER did Liam say that so makes me wonder and totally off point of you post just got me thinking....

anyway been on Concerta 18mg since late February and so far so good, he was NOT a fan of taking it at first said it tastes NASTY, we have to dip it in flavored water and that does the trick. We were on a check mark system, not just for meds, and recently switched to a marble system so he can see his progress. We still have meltdowns but I can get him on track because the negative is he can loose marbles and in case I forget he will get them out for me ;0

If he's not sleeping well, you might ask his doctor about melatonin. It's over the counter and a small dosage may help him fall asleep faster. Our son has taken it off and on for years and it's worked great. I've even tried it myself and it really just makes you feel naturally sleepy and able to fall asleep.
