No the reaction should not be a diagnosis, but it IS an indicator.

Does it really mean he's bipolar or is he just a kid that reacted to a stimulant? It doesn't seem that the reaction he had should diagnoses him either.

It does sound like he was misdiagnosed, or he is habving a reaction the the Merthylphenidate. All meds are not for all kids.

Was he diagnosed by a pediatrician? If so I would absolutely NOT give him anything else until you have a comprehensive evaluation with a Neuropsych. If he was diagnosed by a Neuro, then I would go back ASAp.

Yeah, I also thought first-thing perhaps this was a misdiagnosis. Stimulants don't make kids with ADHD hyper. I'd really wait to see what the specialist has to say (BTW, if you didn't get this diagnosis from a specialist like a psychiatrist, developmental pediatrician or neuropsychologist, that may be the problem).
