FDA to Hear Testimony on Artificial Food Dyes

The FDA will be hearing expert testimony on whether the artificial food dyes in foods can play a role in triggering hyperactivity, here is a video from the Today Show that discusses it:

I think this is good news for the small group whose kids are affected by food dyes and I'm certainly all for eliminating as many dyes as possible, but also want to make sure that the distinction is made between hyperactive tendencies and ADHD. Hopefully the FDA will be clear on that.

Dyes do not effect my kids, but I do know some that they do - more anger than activity for these particular kids. But, for the untrained in ADHD teacher, when she gets a room full of kids and some have had Chocolate Coated Sugar Bombs for breakfast and she can't tell which, her asking for help is going to center around ADHD, not changing the diet. (Cereal name from Calvin and Hobbes. Cheap chocolate also tends to have red dye in it. ) Maybe this ruling will help some kids from being misdiagnosed and moved to more healthy diets. But, I have my doubts about moving to a healthier diet.
