Went to Jamie's pdoc appt today armed with my journal and mood charts. I was on a mission. The first thing I did was ask his doc if he noticed anything different about Jamie today (he's withdrawn after his psychotic monday)

The doctor said yes he is very different, you are right. Then I hauled out all my back up and for once my hubby did not cross talk me or poo poo me out of it.

Pdoc for once starting asking for our family history, even though I tried to cram it down his throat on our first visit. He said it is highly probable that Jamie has either early onset BP or BP and ADHD. He said that before our appt he had drafted a plan of med changes but now armed with this NEW (not) information he is sending us to meet the Head of Pediatric Psychiatric Medicine at the childrens hospital for Jamie to be evaluated for a more dramatic medication change, something he was not comfortable doing without a second opinion, this he said was because he was only 4.5. I understood

So...now I get to see someone who is approaching the situation from a new angle, treat the mood disorder first, that's what Jamie's pdoc said he would do, and then if it's not changing the ADHD symptoms attack that second.

I could just cry with joy, I've been waiting for this moment for 2 years

Hugs to Kathy.in.ga for all your patience with me over the last year, I must have driven you nuts with all the questions.

One thing I have done is video tape my son. When someone doesn't believe me I get it out & show them. I taped over several nights, just set the camera on the counter. At times we weren't even in front of it, but you could hear him screaming. My digital camera also has a feature where I can tape a minute & 1/2(I think). I taped my son once when he threw a huge fit at a restaurant.

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo glad for you!!!!!!!And Jamie too!!!!! And NO dear you did not drive me nuts. Joiner was 4.5 when he was DXed with a mood disorder, later to be DXed BP. We started mood stabilizers when he was 4.5 & it helped sooo much. Just remember, that all kids react to med differently, and that the first med they try may not be the right one for him. Luckily for us, the first one for Joiner worked for 2 years. We went of fit, but are back on it, along with another med.

I just want to say congrats to you and your son!

My case is not as extreme as yours but I know what you mean when you say that no one would belive you or the Dr. would look at you like you are crazy. In my case it was my parents that thought that I was crazy. I started a journal and finally started to call my mother every night to report Quentins day so that she would stop telling me that I am over reacting!

I spoke with his Dr. today(I just love his Dr.) and they are cutting back his Adderrall to see if that is what is causing the anxiety, depending on the results we will prob. go to Strattera instead and poss. add something for the anxiety.

Thank you for all of your advice in earlier posts and shariing your experiences with me and all of us.

Good Luck.

Hugs and cheers

Shaun
