Well, since starting Concerta about 6 months ago, we took our first medicine break - for 5 days. Technically, it isn't really a "break" because our DS 7 had a bad cold, had fever, and was taking cough medicine (promethezine - which has codeine in it) the whole time, too. But, anyway - he did well. He was more hyper than on the Concerta and did some minor things that he doesn't do on the meds, but overall, he was just fine. Not jumping around too much. Interesting. But, like I said - not really a break because he was medicated - just not with Concerta.
And - it was at home - things are pretty calm here. When he did get too excited, we sent him to his room, or told him to go sit on the couch and read. He did and was able to calm down.
He's better now and will be back in school tomorrow - he only went to school last Monday & Tuesday.
I KNOW better than to try this at school. The excitement and stress of school is just too much for his fast brain!
