tried the DHA..... didn't do much... although the "calms forte" did seem to help with sleep at night.

he was FAR worse on the focalin...... didnt' know what to do..... stopped meds completely for 2 days and seemed like i was back to the beginning... my husband suggested we LOWER his adderall dose (he was only on 5mg)

Good luck with the Omega's, but keep in mind it can take 3-4 months to see results, and only iat the therapeutic dose.

It could be too little, too--noon could be when you hit the dip between the 2 doses in the Focalin XR. My 7th grader swears he can tell when the dip happens, especially when he's nearly ready for a higher dose, and I believe him. So if you boost the level of med, it also boosts the height of the dip, as it were.

Also, since you've *just* started, it took my kid...oh, 4-6 weeks when he first went on meds to adjust to the rebound issues. Rebound's no fun at *all*, but it can get better with time, if you're lucky... IF it's pure rebound & only happens at med wear-off!

But talk to your doc!!!!

Hi, and welcome

Did he have behavior issues before meds? Who diagnosed? What testing was done?

There is no "biological connection" with ADHD meds. All kids are different, and I have seen identical twins react to meds differently, when they are alike in every other way. No two kids will react the same way to any med, and no two kids will metabolize them the same way, related kids or not.

Focalin and Adderall are in different med families, although they are both stimulants. Adderall is dextroamphetamine, and Focalin s Dexmethylphenidate, ( same med as ritalin, but with only the active isomer). Focalin generally requires a smaller dose.

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.
