Hello everyone!

I am new to this group. I have a six year old son who was diagnosed with ADHD at the end of last year. To say that I am having a hard time with him would be putting it lightly. I am not getting much help from his school so far we've had the IEP meeting for special education. I am against medicating children and I feel my son's school is pushing the issue as a quick fix. Luckily my son has an AWESOME teacher this year who is very patient and positive.
I hopped on this board to connect with other parents of children with ADHD. Hopefully reading your stories will help. Any advice is always appreciated!
HI, and welcome!
The school cannot push for or even mention meds, not their territory. Meds are a personal choice, and not one made lightly. Although most of us here do medicate, some don't, and some do alternatives also.
Jump in where ever you feel like it!
A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.

Hey aren't you a snap mom (Nov 2006).
Hello,
I am new to the board and wanted to say hello! My son is also 6 and was clinically diagnosed a few months ago but I diagnosed him myself at 4 years old.
