Okay my son is 4 years old and was diagnosed with ADHD and is on Adderall. Here we go he is driving us crazy with his need to empty out every single tote filled with toys. He doesn't play with them and won't clean them up. What can we do? I don't know if he understands what he is doing. HELP!!!!

I have a 4 year old boy who hasn't parted with any toy he's ever been given (ADHD as well) who empties every bucket, toy box and tote, and doesn't play with them and won't clean them up.

So, lol, do we have the same kid?

At the end of any given day it's usually strewn from one end of my house to the other, I've even found stuff in the refridgerator and freezer, so I collect it all up and toss it back in his room.

Once a week I go in his room and try to make some semblance of order out of it.

Sometimes I don't bother, I just close the door and don't look at it.

This used to drive me absolutely crazy and it would take an hour to clean up his mess, carefully sorting all his stuff, action figures, beyblades, favorite things into separate containers so they were ready to be played with each day. Then he would just dump them all out again.

I added up all the hours I spent cleaning his room and it exceeded the time I spent cleaning the rest of the house including cooking meals. I simply don't do it any more. He obviously does not want it neat, he wants a big pile. So that's what he gets.

I know it's infuriating but I'm not going to start world war three over a pile of toys, so I don't.

Try to take a deep breath and take it for what it's worth. I drove myself nuts for a year before I gave it up for lost.

Hugs
