It has been some time since I have been around, but nice to see some familiar names listed. Anyhow, wondering if everybody could help me out. I have a DS (who is 8) with ADD. I have just started a support group for ADD in our local town, as there was nothing avilable to parents....anyhow, was hoping that I could get your ideas, as to what you would find most helpful for future meetings....Our first one is on May 6. and it will just be a general info night, then we will have all kinds of topics.....so...here is your task if you would be so helpful.... List 3 topics you as a parent of an ADD kid would like help with IE school rights and assesments....or medication....or etc etc
Thanks a bunch....and to start you all out here are my top three....
1) ADD and how it affects family relationships....ie marriage etc...
2) School testing and my rights as a parent
3) Techniques to deal with behaviour

Here is what my BP kids support group does. Sometimes we just talk & help each other, share books, ideas, sitter numbers. We have had speakers, like a doc to talk about meds, an education advocate to help with schools, or a therapist to talk about behavior mods. We have also had a family day where we all met at a part & the kids played. It was alot of fun with no outbursts.
Also wanted to tell you about this great sight that helps with school & behaviors.

Also here is a gret sight to help with IEP's

And a great article about common mistakes parents make during an IEP

Good luck with your group! Good to see you post.
