I just found this board. I have one ds diagnosed with ADD and one dd diagnosed with ADHD. My dd was diagnosed in 2nd grade- she's now in 3rd. She's on concerta and doing fantastic! And my ds was diagnosed this past October in 6th grade. He's had so many problems in school and it's really been astruggle. In 2nd grade he was diagnosed with auditory processing disorder and nothing we did ever seemed to help. So we moved and I took him to his new doctor and things have gotten so much better. He's never been hyperactive- quite the oposite, just zones out in his own world. He is also on concerta now and improving everyday! Does anyone else have multiple children diagnosed? I look forward to getting to know you all and maybe finding ways to help guide my children through life with ADD/ADHD, since though the meds help alot they aren't everything. Thanks!

HI, and welcome!

I only have one with adhd, but she does have ADHD/Innattentive( what ADD is called now). Concerta is also our best med. so far. ADHD is usually hereditary, and does tend to run in families, so it is common to have more than one child with it.

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.
