Hi, and welcome

I would start the Adderall, and give it 2 weeks for her to adjust before changing the dose. 5 mgs is a tiny dose, but 10 may be too much, or it may not be the right med at all. Alot of kids have to try several different ones before finding the right med/dose combo that works

I would lower the Melatonin, she may sleep better on a lower dose, and 3 mg is the max.

Appetite issues are common, and sometimes subside after a while, but letting her eat at will is best.

Remember, no Vitamin C fruits or juices while on Adderall( within 2-3 hours of taking it).

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.

hi! thanks so much for the info! i have a feeling i will be hanging around here alot while we bounce around meds? lol!

lower the melatonin dosoe from 3mg? she has been taking 3mg... probably 5 out of 7 nights for the last roughly 2 years. she sleeps just great on it! if she doesnt take it she wakes up 3 or 4 times during the night.

Good Morning,

I wish I could offer you more advice, but I can't since my daughter is new to taking Adderall XD as well. She is almost 6 and on 10 mg of Adderall XD, we haven't had any anger issues while using it. She has had loss of appetite, so we give her a good healthy breakfast before taking the medication (it kicks in within 1 hr with her) and then I try to get her to drink a few chocolate milkshakes (nutritional drink.) My daughter is on the very small size as well (28 lbs and 38 inches) so we are very careful with her not eating.

Good Luck!!!!

I usually can get a drink in her when I can't get her to eat. Our main issue is it doesn't wear off by dinner time so we are lucky to get her to eat anything after breakfast. She wakes up in the AM starving though.

Adderall totally worked for my son during school hours - but as I look back (and by the way adderall had just come out on the market) ds was skin and bones - like sticking out on his shoulders
