For those of you with ADHD kids showing more impulsive behaviours what are some the strategies you are using.


Have you found a medication that helps better?

It sounds like it is time to raise the dosage, or change the med. At the right dose the meds should help the impulsivity tremendously. I am also a huge fan of Therapy in conjunction with meds, it does help, and is really necessary.

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.

We are doing therapy as well.


He understands what to do in various situations, but when in the heat of the moment he forgets everything and just explodes.

I agree. Sounds like the dosage or medication isn't right. Our son's impulsivity disappears when he's on his Concerta. I would definitely get in touch with your son's doctor to explain the problem and see what's the next step.
