Hi, all! Just a short intro... dd (7) was diagnosed in May, ADHD Hyperactive/Impulsive. The help was a long time coming, she started getting in trouble in Pre-K, and by the middle of Kindergarten, we were told she needed a full time aide in the classroom with her. After struggling through Kdg and most of 1st grade with visits to the principal at least weekly, several incidents of in school suspension, and weekly visits with the school social worker and social worker at the pediatrician's office, the diagnosis finally came and she started on Vyvance. Her teacher noticed an immediate improvement, and she didn't get removed from the classroom for the rest of the year. On Vyvance, though, she was getting depressed midday, and having anger fits in the afternoon, so doc switched her to Adderall XR. What a change! for the first time in years, we have had pleasant evenings with no arguing, and tonight she went to sleep without a dozen out of beds, no fits, and I don't need to head immediately to bed myself.
School starts in a week and a half, and for the first time, I'm not completely worried about her succeeding. If this trend holds, I'm thinking we might actually get to experience what a "normal" family is like.
Looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you!
