I think it depends on the child. Mine can take a med break, and does every holiday, weekend and summer. Some kids cannot, and I can totally see why this camp would want kids on meds while they are there.
A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.
We don't do med breaks (though I'm toying with the idea of backing the dose back down, don't know, though...). For my kid, the social skills deficits are big enough that THIS is what I feel summer day camps are for (and the fact that we both work!)--and he simply won't get anywhere without the meds. Entirely skipping over the fact that his counselors would probably become homicidal or something ;}.
I won't do a med vacation for my son, and I can not imagine sending him to camp without his meds. He's off the wall without them. I can 100% see why camps would want that disclosed... in all honesty, I feel it would be unfair of me to take my son off his meds (that he needs to function) and send him to camp so someone else can deal with my problem.

Completely "get" where the camp is coming from.
