Melatonin has stopped working ...

We've had tremendous success with melatonin the past couple years. We started off with a small dose with our son ... about 1.5 mg and had to go up to 3 mg. (full tablet).

Our luck has come to an end. He's now up 2 hours past the melatonin and this has gone on for over a week now.

We'd really like to avoid prescription sleep meds and wondered if any others have found melatonin has stopped working as well over time. Is there a higher, but safe dosage? I don't know where we are on the scale.

Hoping for some feedback before calling the doctor's office.

Thanks in advance,
Michelle

HI

I would stop it completely for a little while, 2 weeks or a month. Then start back with a small dose, .33 mgs, and work up from there. I have found it works alot better when DD has a break from it. We don't use it on weekends, or during the summer now.

How do you get it down to .33 mg? I have only found 3 mg tablets and we just cut them in half at the beginning.

I buy the .33mgs, or 300 MCGs. I get them at walmart.

Thanks! I'll take a look there for them.
