New ADHD diagnosis - not medicating ?'s

Hello, I am new to this board, new to the AD/HD diagnosis, and buried in a sea of information.

My DS is 6 1/2, in kindergarten, and was diagnosed combined type ADHD about 6 weeks ago. I have found a psychologist/therapist I like for him (who has an MA - does not prescribe meds at all).

He is so young....I worry about starting him on meds. Does anyone do therapy only for their ADHD child?

We did therapy for a while, then moved to therapy and meds. It depends on the type of ADHD. IMO some kids need meds to function normally, and they benefit greatly. it is a personal choice however, and one not made lightly.

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.
