Hello everyone.

I am Beth an ADD mom to two wonderful kiddos. My oldest Brianna is 7.5 She is brilliant strait A's Has a reading level 2 grades abover her own. has the most outrageous personality
She is "spirited". Anyone ever read "raising your spirited child"?
She got the "spirit and spunk" award from her teacher.

She's gotten an s- in conduct all year.

And we just got the "ADHD" diagnosis from her psychologist ( daddy, I and her teacher filled out some forms , questionnaire type thing)I have honestly seen this coming for a long time. She never slept as a baby was very high needs, walked and crawled very really , crawled at 5 months walked just before 9 months.

Now the next step is calling her ped to talk about medication.

I am on medication and it helps me. I like who I am when I'm on it, I can feel the difference when I let my meds run out like I did this past month. But I'm debating putting her on it , does anyone have any advice?

HI, and welcome!

I would recommend seeing her ped to get a referall to a Psychiatrist for meds. Especially since she is young and it is a new diagnosis. Since tere are so many different meds, and different types of ADHD meds can be tricky, and having someone who knows more about them is a plus. An EEG or EKG will need to be done before meds are begun also, a Psych can order that.

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.
