No matter what, my child won't listen

Okay, it's only the second week of summer and I'm already losing my mind with my 7.5yr old. I want to get him into the ped for a regular check up before I bring him into someone to have him evaluated but it just seems like lately things are bothering me more, maybe because I'm focusing on stuff more or my patience is wearing thin. Like, he found this toad the other day with his friend so now all day they have the toad out playing with it, putting it in a play fire engine and pretending like it's driving. I told him that's animal abuse and he shouldn't be doing that but he won't stop. I told him if he doesn't stop I will take the toad away. Then he's out front and he starts yelling out. My husband works the graveyard shift so when he gets home at 1pm after lunch, he lies down for a nap, with my 2yr old. I try to keep Austin quiet. I have to constantly remind him, bring him in for time outs, because he's getting all excited and screaming or getting out of hand. How am I going to make it through the summer?

My son does not start school until September so I hear your frustration. He's been home with me since January and it's been hard. I'm counting the months until summer's over and it's not even here yet.

I've come to the conclusion that there is just no way possible to make my son quiet. No matter what medication he takes or how much of it, he is just loud, and busy and yells constantly. I guess that's just part of being 5.

I'm just waiting for better weather so we can spend our days at the beach. Fortunately I live on the east coast and we have a beauty of a beach just 15 minutes from here that he can run around in the sand and make noise to his hearts content while he's drowned out by the sound of the waves and I can read a book and not worry about him running out on the road. He won't run in the water because it's painfully cold so he builds sand castles.

That will be my only sanity this summer, other than that, I'm tired and worn out from the last 6 months and am glad there are only 3 more left.
