When will the search for the perfect medication end? We just finished Clonidine. That didn't do anything but make him sleepy and irritable...because he was sleepy I think. So now we are on to Dexedrine. 5mg at first and then see how it goes. We are going to TRY to capsules. I'll have to mask it in some pudding or something. He has food sensory issues so fingers crossed on that one. He is almost 5.
Has anyone used or had success with Dexedrine? He didn't do great on generic methylphenidate so I'm hoping this isn't a repeat of that.
It's just so frustrating that his teachers and I are all looking to see where he needs to be for kindergarten next year. He is smart and academically he is on the ball, but behaviorally he is SUCH a mess that he may end up in a learning center at first with kids who are much lower than him. I would love for him to be in a typical classroom as he's much more social with the "typical" kids...but unless we get his ADHD under control he couldn't handle it. 28 kids in a class? Forget it! He'd be the Tazmanian Devil!
Any info would be great. Thanks!

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.
