Well ending yesterday and beginning today has been a bit of a pain in the but. I got a cal from my dd's school saying that she has Saturday school tomorrow for skipping one of her science classes last week. Well she told me yesterday that she was getting her classes straight with guidence. Ok so this morning I call the school and spoke to guidence and they told me that there was another issue. From what I could understand over the phone my dd had also been skipping math and french.

Geez, I'd be spittin' along side you!! And don't worry about venting, we ALL need to do it from time to time. And I'd be livid - she's skipped over 7 times and no one looked at her file? Dang schools.

Hope you get it all worked out fast! My oldest is 16 and a junior and honestly - I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with her. She's been miserable, surly, and just generally pissy. Sigh. And of course, she knows it all - she doesn't need meds for depression. hahahahahaha

How about you come here and we'll just have a nice bottle of chardonnay and some good gourmet snaklets and we'll just forget they exist for 24 hours.

Hang in there.

OMG I really can't believe how nasty some shrinks can be. I called today and they refuse to change her med's. They refuse to see her with out a referral from her therapist and omg on and on and on. The worst thing one of them said to me was take her to the hospital for 72 hour lock down. What good is that going to do if she gets worse after she gets out?

I agree, you need to find a different doc for your DD. Will the therapist refer her? Does the therapist have anyone else who is good to use? Who RX the meds now? I think 72 hours wont do a thing for her. That will just piss her off!

You mean the school didn't know about the skipped days? Did the teacher not report her absent from the class that many days? As far as her saying you were two faced, your just a mature adult who knows how to not react to your first instinct, like strangling her LOL. She is just trying to make the situation focus on you. Don't show her that it bothered you, that is what she wants. They know what buttons to push to make us angry. If we show no emotion over what they say to hurt us, then that part is taken out of the equation. Like when Joiner yells "I HATE YOU"! I say "Your angry" and walk away, or if I want to be really bad I say "Good, then my job is done"! He hates that one, but shuts him up every time.

Good luck on getting her some help.

Well lets see where to start at. Okay I guess that the teachers only turn in office slips once a week and the day they were turned in the lady that deals with them was out. I am sure that the teachers have spoken with my DD more then once about her skipping. But being 15 she knows it all. As for her therapist she has to see DD for another 2 months and then make the referral and then it might take up to six months to get her into see someone else.

I don't know if you have tried this, but bpkids.org has a list of psychiatrists. Have you looked there to see if there is anyone remotly close to you? Go to the bottom 0of the pg and click on click here for the directory. Then pull up your state. Maybe there is a listing there that may help you find a good doc.

We have to travel 2 hours one way for Joiner's psych doc, but it's worth it. A good doc is worth their weight in gold. Is this 2 month thing due to the insurance, or just the rule of the practice?

Well it is their practice. I told them about what I wanted before my dd ever went for the first meeting(intake). They told me then it wouldn't take to long... Okay and this is what? LOL

Good call on the BPkids site. That's how I originally found my son's present psychiatrist - DS is not bipolar but at the time we didn't know that. Anyway - they are great on referrals.

Tina - there's something here that really concerns me... that the high school is only putting in absences once a week!? How do they know if a kid has skipped town much less class? That's assinine. I think I'd be calling the district admin office to see what policy truly is.

Does your daughter have an IEP? (Forgive me, lots going on at the moment - I can't remember diddlesquats) If she has an IEP, I think I'd ask for an addition that if she skips class, you are called, immediately.

I feel for you. My 16 yo has only not been strangled because I gave birth to her. Sigh. She's a pita too. Hang in there.
