Chlonidine was actually one of the first things prescribed for our son's ADHD symptoms back when he was three and they didn't want to try the real ADHD medications. It was supposed to calm him down, but it was pretty much like giving him water. It didn't calm him down, make him sleepy or anything. We went through the gradual tapering up of the medication and then forever tapering off of it. Lost a lot of months dealing with that medication to gain nothing.

Once you get through tapering off Chlonidine (assuming you decide to), you might give over-the-counter melatonin a try. Many of us here use that for our kids' sleep issues. It's worked wonderfully for our son and he's taken it for years now with no side effects.

Clonidine is commonly used for Kids with ADHD for sleep, it is a blood pressure med.
Is he seeing a Psycvhiatrist for meds? A Pediatrician is not qualified to RX adhd meds.
