It depends. Is he an instant gratification kid? Mine is

Wedd daily small rewards wrking towards one big reward. For example: chores done, room clean, did well in school that day= 1 item from the "treasure box". ( I kept a shoebox full of small toys and stuff, tattoos , rings, yo-yo's, stickers....

At that age, we did a sticker chart for "good days" at school.

Ok. I made the reward chart. I put things such as 25 points and he gets to rent a movie from blockbuster, 20 pts gets him 30 minutes of an activity of his choice with mom or dad, 50 points he gets a small toys (bakugan, action figure). I am giving him 5 pts for each school day that he doesn't get a check or sent to the safe seat, etc.

My son is 6 and we created something we call reward cards. I made a bunch of cards on my computer for different things that he likes - there are "prize cards" where he can pick out a prize from the prize box but we also have cards for things like going to get an ice cream cone, staying up late, getting out of one chore.
