We've had very good results with Focalin XR 15mg with my DS. He is very well-controlled with no side-effects. The only drawback with this med is that it only lasts about 8 hours max. So, we have to give a short acting sometimes after school. I worry that in middle school it won't hold him all day because the day is a bit longer and he will have a bus ride too. But, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I hope that Focalin is the right med for you too.

We switched from Concerta to Focalin very briefly. It was supposed to boost our son's appetite and we didn't see that benefit at all (we've since realized our son just doesn't like to eat). The big drawback was that our son processed it WAY too quickly. Worked fine in his system but stopped working by noon. That wasn't going to work, so we switched back to Concerta. Not a bad medication, just not the right one for our son.

Hi, my DS, almost 10, switched from Concerta to Focalin XR 10 mg, but as the PP said, the Focalin XR wore off much too soon - only lasted 4 or 5 hours so he had to take a booster at school at 11:30 am every day.
