I am not ready to try Strattera yet- but am thinking ahead for my son (he currently uses Metadate ER). Is Strattera obviously something you cannot use during the week and stop on weekends? Also, has anyone noticed sleep problems while on it?

Hi! Yes, Strattera is something that needs to be taken every day to keep it built up in the bloodstream, like an anti-depressant for instance. When my son first started taking Strattera he was sleepy some during the day and then very ready to go to sleep at night, which was great! Now, he's been on it for a month, and the sleepiness during the day is pretty much gone and it's gotten to where he's awake later at night again. But, he has had ZERO bad side-effects, is much more evenly calm and nice, is focusing at school and just feels so much better all around. No more tummy aches or head aches. He really does not like to read at all, but on Sunday afternoon he went over to the bookshelf, got the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and decided he was going to read it. He finished the book on Tuesday night!!! I'm totally serious! He is now working on the second book in the series and his goal is to read all four books in the series. I'm thinking 'who in the world are you and what have you done with my son?!?!' LOL. It's great for us so far!! Good luck with whatever you do and hope this helps you some.
