Well, Joiner is sick. Has both strep & bronchitis of all things. He can go back to school on Wed. To top it all off there is some kind of state wide testing going on this week. Joiner will miss two days of it. Oh well, I can't send him to school sick & contagious. We got meds today to make him better. What is so strange is that during the day time he is OK, esp when he takes tylenol & there is no fever. At night, his fever gets high, and he coughs lost. He is not eating much of anything, and is not near as hyper as usual. Poor kid. Now he will have to make up the testing. Maybe that's a good thing, he can do it in the resource room.

I did find out that he has gained some weight! Last Dec he wore a size 8 & weighed probably 55 lbs. Now he wears a 12 & weighs 92 lbs! He has grown 6 inches since then too, he's 4'7" & just turned 8. He wont fit in any of his winter clothes, luckily it doesn't get that cold down here.

Kathy,

It's been a while............... wow he has really grown! I hope he's feeling better soon. Our schools are closed because of flooding today. MAJOR rain last night and still clearing from Isabel.

Update on us, we decided to go no meds for dd ( 5th grade this year) and it's a struggle but I really dont think the meds were a benefit. We finally got a 504 plan but I still struggle with the school to "get it". Her teachers so far this year have been very helpful.

Kathy,

Sorry to hear about Joiner but glad that he is starting to feel somewheat better. I can remember my dd having an ulcer in her throat. I asked the doctor what caused this and they had no answer for it. Because of it hurting her so bad at the time she was home for almost 3 weeks. Now of course I had to go to the school every other day and pick up her work seeing she was in middle school and couldn't afford not to have me get it for her...

I am going on Thursday to see about getting my ds on medication. He is getting worse and I know it's for the best but I can't seem to find out any information on the other medications that they treat ad/hd with.. I don't want him on anything that will act like concerta does when they start coming off it and then have to give him a sleeping aid like my dd is currently using..

I am talking to her doctor on thursday to see what options I have and what side affects are going to be...

Hope you have a great day

hugs

tina
