Is it standard practice when trying to find the right med/right dosage to just go straight from one med right to another without any transition or down time between meds?

We have switched meds as often as every 3 weeks. I like to give a new med/dose at least a week or two before deciding whether it is working or not. You can use one med one day, and a different the next, since they are out of the system within 12 -14 hours. Adderall is very closely related to Vyvanse, and you are likely to see the same side effects.

If you are starting Strat, I would rcommend starting now and keep using the stimulant meds for a little while, so you know how it is working before school starts again. I would also make SURE it is ramped properly, as it is dosed by weight, not symptoms. It should be rx'd like this : 10 mgs X 5 days, 18 X 5 days, 20 X 5 days etc until you reach the target dose for the childs weight. Then it will take another 4-5 weeks to see optimal results.

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.
