Taking child off meds?

My ds is seven. He has had probs w/all the drugs we have tried. We are currently going to try strattera. I went to pharmacy to get prescription filled and they had to order so my son missed two days of drugs (Saturday and Sunday). My thing is, he didn't seem that bad at all. A little crazy but not as bad as I thought, and he didn't have his usual speech problems. He does the little repeater thing, "Can Can can I go with you". That type of thing. My dh and I can't remember if he did this before drugs but he has done it since. My question is, has anybody ever taken their kid off meds and they do okay? I won't do this without doctor, and I am going to try the strattera, but if he starts the speech thing again on strattera and it doesn't help adhd, I am going to think about it. Thoughts or advice or experience on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Robyn

Hi, I have taken my son off his meds before. He did wonderful, for about a week, then slowly it got worse. Good luck with the new med. we are thinking about trying it this summer. A thought on the repetitive speaking, could that be a slight Tourette's syndrome symptom (where something is done involuntarily, like facial ticks)? Some ADHD meds can aggrivate Tourettes symptoms.
