Talks outloud all during the day!

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone out there deals with this type of situation. My 9 year old, 4th grade son has ADHD. He's on Adderall XR 20mg. Just started that and it seems to be helping a bit. Last week the teacher told me he is still disruptive in that he talks outloud almost constantly. I notice this at home too. He talks to himself, also makes what we call 'habit' humming, clearing his throat, slapping his hands on his legs. It all ends up being annoying to the teacher and the rest of the class. He often calls out in class, or just talks to himself. Help! Does anyone else know if this is an ADHD thing or are we looking at something else? We are in the process of getting a referral for a pediatric neurologist. Thanks!

He may be trying to block out all other noises. My son does these things too. Sometimes it is anxiety causing it, sometimes he is trying to block out noises. He says the kids talk, they talk very low, but to him it's as if they are using loud voices so he makes noises so he can concentrate. The teacher & kids have learned to ignore most of his noises. Noise making, to me, is minor & if it can be ignored then it should be. When my son is loudly making noises (like squaking like a bird), it is usually anxiety. He is then taken to the resource room to calm down.

All 4 of my kids have different things that they do. My youngest ds talks out loud and rocks al the time. My youngest dd talks all of the time and always has something in hr mouth. I have a great neice that rocks also..

I am getting ready to medicate my youngest son to see if he can control himself a little better..
