Over the past month we have been seeing a psychologist and having DS (11) tested, the main concern being his lack of focus for any extended period of time, not based on any hyperactivity.

My son started on Concerta when he was 11, he is also more inattentive than hyper like your son and also scores high in testing.

The sending to the room thing to do work, I will second that that does not work! We do all of our work at the kitchen table so I can (kind of) clean or cook. I did get some plastic political signs (but you could use wood or cardboard) and made a three sided divider that I can put on the table around him so that he can't see things going on around him or out the window. In reality though, I do have to be right there, which is ok for right now. Like I said, down the road he may want medications, but I would rather that it be his choice as we can handle what is going on now.

I am glad that the vision stuff was ruled out. That book is a good one, I hope it is helpful for you.

thanks, I am familiar with Concerta and have heard Omega can help. I'll look into Magnesium too.

thanks for your post, I'll check the book out. We have checked vision and that is totally fine, thank goodness. Thankfully too he loves to fix himself eggs for a great protien breakfast, but I'll try and watch what carbs do for him. It is really hard doing schoolwork since anything can be distracting - even too much quiet, lol. To send him to his room to work "in peace" is a joke, too many fun things in there to get into ;-)

DD is 13, and takes Concerta 27 mgs. She is happy with it,and we are happy with it. We also use Omega's and Magnesium, and it does help...
