Hi everyone!

Nick (7, 2nd grade) has been on 27 mg of Concerta for a while now, but it seems to be losing its effectiveness.

Concerta has the potential to last all day. Our son started 1st grade on 27 mg. but that wasn't enough, so he was bumped up twice. He's now on 45 mg. and not only is it working wonders during the day, but it's covering him all day now, when it used to stop working around 3:30 pm. I know it's different with every child, but you may find that by simply increasing the dosage, you get better coverage.

As far as I know, Concerta's the only 3-dose ritalin one out there, so you've got the longest one already. If you're really curious, the pharmacology (rate at which it is put into & fades out of the average body) is out there on the web. When what med wears off depends on the kid, of course, but if it worked fine before, a boost in dosage will probably make it work fine again...

Luck!

Thanks! My thoughts were to see what happens with the boost to 36mg and see if that covers us at least through homework :).
