We have an offical Diagnosis

So, we have an official diagnosis of ADHD and now we are going back to our PED for consult and medication. We've picked up a couple of books as well, "Parenting Children with ADHD: 10 lessons that medicine cannot teach" is one that's supposed to be pretty good.
I'll be pushing for other tests to eliminate any other medical conditions that could be the cause of what we're seeing but it's doubtful that it's anything other than ADHD.
So.....just an update, I guess, on where we are in the process. It does seem overwhelming at times when considering all the work we have ahead of us but, it's what's got to be done.
Anyone else read this book? If so, thoughts?
I forgot to include another question.
When the decision is made to use medication, how do you discuss this with the child? We have always taken the up front and honest approach with our boy and I would like to be able to tell him what's really going on without making him feel bad about himself. Anyone willing to share their experiences?
