Hi, and welcome

An IEP is an educational plan, it is basically special Ed. A child who qualifies for an IEP can receive accomodations in school. In order to have your child tested you wuld have to ask the school for an educational evaluation.

Alot more info here, http://www.greatschools.net/LD/school-learning/what-is-an-iep.gs?content=513

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.

The other one you want to look into is a 504 plan (bit easier to get than IEP, but you can have many of the same accomodations...). Try the wright's law website too. IEP plans generally have things like preferential seating, more time on tests (especially the state-wide ones!), making sure the kid understands the directions. Also you can get OT (handwriting), speech, etc., that way, but, of course, only if your kid needs that!
