My primary care physician agreed to prescribe a trial of Ritalin until we could get into a psychiatrist, which is finally happening this month. What kind of information should I bring to this visit that will help them? They haven't asked for anything, but I don't want to go and have them give me a list of info to get before the next visit because it already feels like this whole process is taking forever.

Hi! I would strongly suggest to wait and see what the Neuropsychologist/Psychiatrist

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.

Information: ANY test results you already have, maybe through school testing, etc. School reports, comments from teachers, etc. List of the behaviors, etc., that *you* think may show ADHD (and those that may not!). If you're starting the ritalin before, then add in what you see from that, I suppose? I'm trying to think if there was any other info they asked me for...really, I had all these tests from the school, so the whole LD side was sort-of already covered. And we'd fixed the sleep apnea already, months before, so we knew that wasn't the cause...

I'd bet that you'll be sent home with forms for you & the teachers to fill out (sorry!), so don't expect instant diagnosis, OK?
