I'm curious how much of a role maturity plays in our kids' lives.

my 7 year old was recently diagnosed with ADHD and has always been immature but also on the young side as a summer baby he started school 2 months after turning 5 so there were issues there. He also had motor skills issues and his struggles would cause meltdowns. We still tears at home, well more like major meltdowns but his teacher says only occassionally at school and not like we see at home but he has been working with an occupational theropist who also took over as his case manager (OMG if it was not for this woman I really wonder where he would be she has gone above and beyond for him) and she has been working with him as well so think its a combo of a lot of thing including just growing up.

Now I am not 100% sure we are solely dealing with ADHD but for us homework definately improved since we started medication. We also started a new

I think maturity does play a huge role. My 12 yo has gotten much better at dealing with some of the issues such as frustration and disappointment. I think when they start to be more aware of their peers, they don't want to be noticed in that way. I don't think bringing a few things to church is all that bad, you need to treat them as individuals and it will come with time.

How about using pebbles or rocks when doing multiplication? He can sort them into 3 groups of 4 and then add them all up. Having something visual in his hands might make more sense to him. Games is a good way to go with them!

He sees a pshychiatrist, who prescribes the meds, and a behavior therapist.

I know two years ago our family doctor said he'd make a finally diagnosis with DS when he was 12.
