We had a church picnic over the weekend and we all had such a great time - Dad, DS 7, DS 4 and me. Before meds for DS 7, we wouldn't have stayed as long and I would have had to "hover" over our DS 7 to be sure he wasn't getting in a fight, causing problems, about to cause problems, etc.

We were there for a couple of hours when I realized this - "Hey - this is really nice" I thought. We stayed for the whole thing - 3 1/2 hours - I watched both of our DS's playing with other kids and having a great time.

It's amazing the things that other parents take for granted ... like being able to be at a church function and just enjoy yourself without having to be on guard all the time. Only parents of a child with some 'issues' can truly understand what a blessing a good day really is. I'm glad that you got to experience that, and that you were able to sit back and revel in it. Take it all one day at a time, and enjoy every good moment you get! You deserve it. AND, my guess is that DS had a ball and enjoyed the fact that he was just having fun without having problems, getting in trouble, or having to leave early. Sounds like a great day for all.

Yep, one of the great things about having an ADD kid - learning to appreciate and enjoy the good times!
