Yet another strattera question

For you guys out there with experience, how long does strattera generally take to get in the system? My son took it for about 3 weeks with no results and I am thinking of trying again. Could it take longer that 3 weeks to be effective? I am willing to give it a shot, especially since school is ending, if it takes longer. Thanks, Robyn

My son showed results within 24 hours of his 1st dose. He was on Adderall and I had the side effects, not eating, hyper when it wore off, not sleeping. With Strattera he is even tempered 24 hours a day, has a good appetite, falls asleep at a normal hour. The Dr gave us the starter kit 18mgs for a week now he's on 25mgs. Been three weeks now and is showing great results. He is 8. Check with your Dr. I think you should have seen effects sooner than 3 weeks.

I think all kids are different. For Kevin, it was a good 3-4 weeks on the right dose (which means increase from 18 to 24 then 24 to 40 then 40 to 60 mg) before we could really see it was working. And even then, we needed a boost of Concerta to get the full effect.
