I hope it goes really well! We gave Eric private swimming lessons last summer, 5 one hour lessons (once a week for 5 weeks) and we took him to the pool every day to practice. He has always loved water and was motivated to learn to swim, but he needed a teacher who was sensitive to the way he learns and to his general lack of fear. We ended up with a young guy who wasn't especially ASD trained, but just kind of had a knack, very gentle person, had taught a lot of kids, a natural teacher kind of guy. Whoever took Eric also did wear our suit too because sometimes it took the teacher and one of us to work with him.

We're wondering about a small group class this year, but not sure. Last summer he learned to dive under water, perfected a pretty good kick, and do the basic crawl, starting to free-style but not quite there yet.

Eric really does better in the summer when he can swim every day. It has such a calming effect on him and helps him to self-regulate. I sometimes wish we had our own pool! I think it is the fact that the water is giving him pressure all around him and he loves that. It's great to blow off all that extra energy.

So I am sure once Bobby gets used to it, you'll see some nice effects and it will be fun for all of you.
