DS will be a year on Sat. For a few weeks he has done something weird. He will say a word and then not repeat it again. LIke this weekend, he pointed at the cat and said "baby". THis freaked me out because he doesn't even really babble.(ALthough he does babble mama.) I gave him a bath on friday night and said oh you sweet baby and then he said "baby". SO, when he said that to the cat (and [pointed) I kind of freaked out. He has also said bye bye a few times, but not with any real consistency. My mom swears he said night night once. Then yesterday I heard him say "Emma" who is my daughter. Isn't this strange? I don't know if it's just a fluke or he is really saying words. I also think I heard him say "elmo" when he was playing with an elmo toy. Anyhow, have any of you ever come across this? Or are my ears just fooling me.
Thanks

Hi Sonya,
This is just popping into my head, but from what I've heard, kids with oral apraxia do that -- say a word but can't repeat it...
