Hi all -
As a newbie to the board and to Asperger's I am unaware of many of the abbreviations/acronyms that are used. Could someone give a crash course?
NT
ASD
PDD
HFA
PDD - NOS
SID
anything else you think might be helpful.
Thanks!

Yes, of course, and I still hafta sit and think on some of the "sayings" abbreviation, like HTH (wha?) that people liberally toss about in online chatter.
OK,
NT - neurotypical
ASD - Autistic Spectrum Disorder
PDD - Pervasive Developmental Disorder
HFA - High Functioning Autistic
PDD-NOS - my fav, so odd, kinda means 'yes' but 'no'
Pervasive Developmental Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified
SID - Sensory Integration Dysfunction
and just AS - Asperger's Syndrome
These are medical abbreviations and diagnostic terms. We sound very hip and smart when we use them! like a secret club, kinda. But we don't yet have a secret handshake, not that I know of .... HEY!
