I can't remember where in MD you are, but my nurse practioner is AMAZING. They are in Kensington. She is thrilled we put Gray on GFCF diet. She told me to go to the apothecary and talk to them about fish oil/vitaminB/zinc supplements and said she knows of some homeopathic treatments that help reverse effects of vaccines. She knows Dr. Pamela Compart (our DAN dr) and loves her. She also gave me a prescription for the measles vaccine JUST in case there is an break out here so he doesn't have to get the MMR. I mean this lady is the best! Nancy Hoover is her name. If it isn't too far, I would go to her in a minute. They don't care I'm not vaxing Magnus either.
Most mainstream docs may not buy into DAN or other alternatives but that gives her no cause to be rude. She just sounds majorly b!tchy. I would ditch her for another for sure.
My ped is fairly open to alternatives. She doesn't question what my decisions are but gives me whatever knowledge she has as well so I am fully informed. But I am kind of down the middle. I am a bit apprehensive about DAN! docs myself but I am much more apprehensive about big pharmaceutical. I have found a comprehensive logical approach works best for me with my own research, etc.
If one DAN! set of labs told me there was that much wrong that I needed to treat I would likely get a second workup from a different lab just to be sure before I started doing really invasive things. Though I am not sure I would use the doctors lab.
I probably would use something like Great Plains Lab or another one that is pretty reputable amung those kinds of tests.
The suggestion is if a doctor uses a particular lab continuously then heads up? I have had good results with Great Plains but my own DAN doc uses Doctor's Data. Is it the web linked lab that we need to avoid.....confused!!!

Wow you wrote your post perfectly, so I was able to follow. Of course I would have been frustrated too.

On our local autism support board, we have a mom who has a child with autism who is also a physician.
Kara,
Can I ask what exactly this web page means?

Dee,
I think, that it means some MD's may feel that these labs do "nonstandard testing"
