Afterschool care quandary...

So yesterday (after he had one of his huge meltdowns there), I was informed that Duncan won't be invited back to his afterschool care place for the next school year.

Ah, I remember those days.
I don't work anymore but I well remember the challenges of being a working mom with two special needs kids.
It sounds like the only real problem at the JCC is staffing/resources. I wonder if you could come to some sort of arrangement with them for you to provide or pay an aide to coem and work with Duncan at the program? Maybe you could get something like that funded through the county or some kind of program I don't know. It's worth a discussion, at least.
My kids attended a small in-home daycare when they were younger. After they reached school age, they still attended that daycare after school (the little bus drops door-door so transportation wasn't an issue) It worked well for them because it was a small quiet environment, run by a wonderful couple, so it was almost like going to Grandmas, but with more structure.
You may want to make some local inquiries and see what options are available to you.
