Alex is terrified of losing baby teeth

He's lost 5 so far, and each one has been SOOOO traumatic. Now he has a VERY loose tooth and he won't eat anything. I'm sure it's literally hanging by a thread (and hopefully it will fall out at school today); he won't let me anywhere near his face to even look at it (much less grab it and pull it out before he knows what hit him - LOL).
Does anyone else's child have this fear? I've tried everything - from explaining that his teeth are doing just what they're supposed to do; he's now a BIG BOY; reading books about teeth; having the dentist talk to him about it... Nothing works; he just asks me why don't his baby teeth "just grow into grownup teeth", instead of them having to fall out? I know if it does come out today while he's at school, the entire school population will be hearing him scream.
Yikes.

Laurie,
Sorry, we have just the opposite here. Nathan doesn't say anything about his loose teeth. I'm always afraid that his teeth will fall out and we won't even know about it!! LOL He will even eat without complaining. So far, we've been lucky though. He eventually tells us he has a loose tooth, but it's about to come out when he tells us! He brushes his teeth on his own, but I still floss him. So I usually check his teeth out, every so often, just to make sure everything's ok. Nathan won't usually tell us about pain or discomfort. Only sometimes.
And he was really able to grasp the whole idea of grown up teeth coming in. He thought it was cool. He's seen his brother lose teeth and get new ones, so he was ok about it.
