In chat tonight, I was asked to post this poem. Our youngest, Claire (6 y/o autie), was asked to pick a poem and memorize it for her class poetry celebration. I think it's a pretty insightful choice for a child who struggles immensely with communication.
ALONE
In the middle of this riot
I'd like to find a place that's quiet
A little space that's shaped like me
A little place where I can be
Alone

Meant to add (hit send too soon, fast fingers lol) that she picked the perfect poem for all of our kiddos :)

Her choice was very insightful. Unfortunately most of it will probably be lost of those horrible classmates of hers.
I do wonder if an Aspie or Autie wrote this poem? It screams Spectrum to me, which is probably why she identified so closely with it.

You know, seeing as how the author is listed as "anon" it probably was somebody on the spectrum. At least, I want to believe it was. Makes Claire's choice all the more relevant, in my mind.
