counts pills from the pharmacy? The last refill of depakote was 10 pills shy. I called the pharmacy & they gave me the 10 pills. So the next time I picked up a prescription I asked tech to count pills. She did right in front of me. Today I picked up the meds and counted at home- one pill too many. I count as a way of checking myself. Son's dose is staggered so I put pills in holder then count whats left in bottle.Generally I like this pharmacy, people are knowledgeable(they just can't count). The other pharmacy has had many complaints against it - not speaking English, wrong meds, etc,.

Side note - Isn't it ironic that depakote has the marking "NT" ?

Yes, I've been shorted before and spoke to the pharmacy. They did a recount of their stock and found I was right.

One interesting thing happened once at a very busy pharm. My dh went to pick up his script and they handed him his best friend's script. That was a crazy coincidence. It's not like their names are even similar. Weird. Check very carefully...a good point you brought up.

Of course, it's also VERY important to be sure you've got the correct pills. That's kind of a no-brainer, but I'll admit that I've gotten a new prescription for myself, taken the first dose, and then realized that I hadn't checked that the pills match the description of what they are supposed to look like. One in a while a mistake is made.

Last time we got David's prescription, half of the pills in the bottle were a different color than what we were used to. We called the pharmacist (who checked and said the manufacturer had switched to a different color) to make sure it was the right pill before giving it to David. You can't be too careful.

I've never counted a prescription. I guess I should!
