What did you think? I was told by the psych at yesterday's eval to pick it up "on the way home". He was sure it was the exact thing I needed. I got it today and since then have seen some unflattering reviews of the philosophy. Since I trust you ladies more than a doctor I only met once I thought I'd ask for opinions here.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I thought this book was extraordinarily helpful. (In fact, I just recommended it to someone else in a post below!) I felt as though it was really do-able, and it helped me take my DD's outbursts in stride a bit more -- made me feel more in control, and the situation more stable. It really helped my relationship with DD, and I could really see the positive effects on her behavior.

JMHO!

Our developmental pediatrician recommended that book for us, too. It has been incredibly helpful for us, especially before David was on a therapeutic dose of mood stabilizer. It's one that I recommend a lot.

I just went to a website that is named after a large river in South America to look at the reviews there, and the only bad review I saw (in 3 pages) were one that sounded like an ad for the Feingold diet and one from a child who was insulted by the title on her parents' bookshelf. The rest were all 5 stars.

You've got the book now, though, right? So, you'll get to see if the approach is right for your family. :)
